GAF
Timberline HDZ
- Attachment technology
- A laminated design GAF calls LayerLock, with a widened nailing area it markets as the largest target on a shingle.
- Published wind rating
- GAF publishes a wind warranty with no maximum wind-speed limit, and states it carries no named-storm exclusion. It applies only when the shingle is installed together with a required combination of qualifying GAF accessories: starter, deck protection, ridge cap, and a leak barrier or attic ventilation. Without that full set, coverage falls back to the standard shingle and accessory limited warranty.
- Algae resistance
- Time-Release Algae-Fighting Technology, described as capsules holding copper microsites that release gradually rather than sitting in a single surface layer. Algae protection is written as its own separate limited warranty, and applies only to product sold in packaging carrying the algae-protection mark.
- Impact rating
- Timberline HDZ passes UL 2218 Class 3. A separate GAF line reaches Class 4 using a rubber-modified asphalt. Hail damage is excluded from the shingle warranty at every class.
- Reflective option
- A separate reflective line rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council, not the same product as the flagship.
